What Is Masbia
Masbia Soup Kitchen Network provides emergency food relief—both nutritious, ready-to-eat meals and raw groceries—to individuals and families facing financial hardship or impacted by natural disasters, completely free of charge.
Learn MoreMasbia is a nonprofit charity organization with a simple but powerful mission: to ensure no one goes hungry. Founded in April 2005 as a single soup kitchen serving hot dinners, Masbia has since grown into a lifeline for thousands in need. Masbia was featured in People Magazine as a “restaurant without a cash register.”
In the wake of the 2009 recession, Masbia expanded its services and now operates out of three locations—two in Brooklyn and one in Queens. (The expansion was mentioned on Saturday Night Live.)
In addition to Masbia’s hot meal services, each location includes a food pantry where individuals and families can pick up packages of raw ingredients to prepare at home. Currently, Masbia serves over 300 hot dinners each night and distributes close to 1,000 grocery packages daily, five days a week.
In partnership with DoorDash, Masbia launched a home delivery service in 2022 to reach clients unable to visit our sites. Masbia also maintains a relief squad that responds to emergencies beyond our immediate neighborhoods.
Masbia is a grassroots, hand-to-mouth operation powered by community support. Every dollar donated goes directly to feeding those in need. Masbia’s work is made possible by tens of thousands of generous people like you who believe that hunger should never be part of anyone’s story. Read more about it here.

Our services are designed to be easily accessible, which is why we operate out of a storefront. Dinner is served without an appointment, while pantry distributions require a prior appointment.
